The Honorary Consul of the Republic of Liberia in Minnesota, Hon. Jackson K. George, Jr. served as Guest Speaker of the Buduburam Reunion in Atlanta, Georgia. Speaking to individuals who were once refugee, Hon. George reminded them that being in the United States was a gift from God as they were not better than those who died in the civil war. He said many Liberians are still on the camp and others have returned home.
Hon. George, also a refugee on the Buduburam Refugee Camp in Ghana, admonished Liberians to lend a helping hand and invest in their homeland. “Government cannot do it all”. He cautioned Liberians to hold government accountable in a responsible manner and stop the negative insults on social media. Only Liberians can ultimately build Liberia. This reunion must be impactful in supporting causes in Liberia, Hon. George cautioned. He said that Liberia is a beautiful and rich nation, full of opportunities and Liberians need to recognize that. He concluded that Buduburam has respectable individuals in every professional discipline and rebuilding Liberia is all Liberian responsibility. “If you lived on Buduburam, you are a unique person. He thanked the organizing committee for the invitation, saying that “you chose your own to deliver the message”. It was notable of the organization.
