Hon. George Hosts Brooklyn Park City Mayor

The Mayor of the City of Brooklyn Park, Mayor Jeffrey Lunde today paid a courtesy visit at the Liberian Consulate in Minnesota. The Consulate which is situated in the City of Brooklyn Park has the largest concentration of Liberians in the state of Minnesota. Hon. George, welcomed the mayor and briefed him on the functions of the Liberian Consulate. The discussion also centered around strengthening ties with Liberia especially the revival of the Kakata Sister Relationship. Mayor Lunde pledged his support indicating that whatever he can do to revive the sister cities relationship between Brooklyn Park and Margibi County.
The city has a strong relationship with the Liberian Community and has donated items including fire truck to Liberia. During the Ebola crisis, the city worked with the Liberian community to ensure that Liberians in the city were not stigmatized and the city also helped to collect supplies. A Conference Room at the City Hall in Brooklyn Park is named, “The Kakata Room”.
