Hon. George Discusses Collaboration with the Organization of Liberians in Minnesota (OLM)

Hon. Jackson George extended an invitation to the executive leadership of the organization of Liberians in Minnesota to discuss ways in which the Liberian Community in Minnesota and his office can coordinate activities in the state. Prior to being appointed and commissioned, the organization of Liberians in Minnesota (OLM) had played a unique role in filling in the gaps and dealing with Liberian nationals’ issues in the state.
Speaking to the group, Hon. George thanked the executive leadership for agreeing to meet with him and for being opened to discuss ways in which both entities can collaborate. He said, the Organization of Liberians in Minnesota (OLM) as a community organization and an umbrella organization of all Liberian organizations in the state of Minnesota has a major role to play in shaping the minds of Liberians in the direction to help develop Liberia. He said that OLM is unique in that Minnesota has the largest concentration of Liberian nationals and Liberian-Americans in the United States.
Hon. George stressed the need for Minnesotan Liberians to do more to help develop their homeland, adding that Liberians in Minnesota have and continue to have economic impact on the Liberian economy. Our country is gradually developing, and we must join the new administration’s pro-poor efforts in creating jobs, proving our expertise and support Liberian-owned businesses.
The meeting which took place at the Liberian Consulate in Minnesota discussed amongst other things community relations and Independence Day Celebrations.
The Organization of Liberians in Minnesota is the umbrella organization of all Liberian organizations in the state of Minnesota. It is a social service, community-based, non-profit organization that caters to the social services needs of Liberians.
